Poster Presentation
“Research is observing what everybody else has already seen and thinking
what nobody else has thought upon." Poster presentation is a powerful tool to
visually communicate scientific approaches and ideas across a wide spectrum of
themes with flourish. This event vests participants from across institutions with
the opportunity to skillfully illustrate fresh perspectives using the medium of poster
presentation,
keeping the given theme into consideration.

The themes of the poster presentation are
“The Fight Against Multi-Drug Resistance”
“Bacteriocin”
“Bacteria as biomarkers”
“Extra-terrestrial bacteria”
“Nanotechnology in fields of microbiology”.
All posters presented on this topic must either be based on original work or may be reviews.

The poster dimensions are 1M X 1M with bold text, legible enough to be read from a 30m distance.
-
The maximum number of members allowed in single team is 4 and minimum number of members is 2.

Each team will get a time limit of 5 minutes. 3 minutes are allotted for the poster demonstration and 2mins for the question answer session moderated by the respective judges of the event.

The registration fees for poster presentation are Rs 600 for each student
participant and Rs 800 for each teacher/scholar. Registration is to be done by the
respective team leader only, individual
members of the team are not required to register separately.

The deadline for submitting the abstract for the poster is 12th September 2024. Participants are requested to email their abstracts to poster.mtim24@gmail.com. Abstracts are to be submitted only after successful completion of website registration and fee payment.

The evaluation will be based on presentation skills, content of the poster and adherence to the allotted time limit. Marks will be awarded accordingly and the decision of the judges will be final and binding.

Frame Fest
The world of biology is ever-evolving and growing. The photography event at MTIM
challenges you to touse your lens and still moments in time. This is your chance to
capture the beauty of our ever-changing and forever fascinating world of nature.
Capture intimate interactions of elements of
nature and the living world, its diverse forms, whether microscopic or enormous.
Process of online registration:

The theme for the photography competition must encapsulate interactions among
members of the living world,
celebrating life forms of all types and dimensions
-
Registration must be done as a solo participant.
-
After registration details are received, participants will be added to a WhatsApp
group, where further instructions will be conveyed. Participants will be provided
with a Google Drive link where the photos are to be uploaded.
Only JPEG and JPG formats will be deemed acceptable.

A maximum of 3 entries will be accepted provided they abide by the theme.
-
The registration requires a payment of Rs 200/- from the participants, details of which will be conveyed later.
-
The online registrations for participation in the competition will
tentatively close by 12th September, 2024.
-
All participants are welcome to the college premises on the day of the event to
attend the exhibition and the programme.
They may also avail food packets from the MTIM Committee.
Rules for the competition:

The theme for photography is Creature Communique: Tales of the Living World.
-
Mobile photography will be accepted.
-
Basic editing, including colour enhancement, the use of filters, and cropping of the photo(s) is acceptable, provided any such editing does not affect the authenticity
and/or genuineness of the photo(s). However, monochrome pictures are not permitted.
-
Advanced editing, such as excessive colour grading, used to create illusions, deceptions and/or manipulations, and the
adding and removing of significant elements within the frame is prohibited.

The minimum size for each photograph must be 2 MB.
-
Participants are required to provide a unique name and a description for every photo submitted.

Plagiarism or display of any kind of vulgarity may lead to cancellation of entries.

The results of the competition will be based on judgement by the judges on the day of the event.

Microbizz
As the industrial boom takes the world by storm,
Microbizz gleans inspiration from the same, providing young minds
with the opportunity to propose novel entrepreneurial ideas deep rooted
in Microbiology. Participants are to pitch business ideas of potential and
elaborate on the science, commerce and skillsets to develop the same,
taking the aid of PowerPoint Presentations.

The business proposals being pitched at the event must be novel and strictly
incorporating microbiological entities or techniques.
Participants may also support their presentations with a model.
-
Each proposing team may have a minimum of two and a maximum of five members.
-
Each team will be given a time limit of 13 minutes. 10 minutes are allotted for
the elaboration and the pitch, while the remaining 3 minutes are set aside for
question-and-answer sessions conducted by the panel of judges. Within 8-10 slides,
contestants are to elaborate on the opportunity, scalability and marketability that
their business idea promises, alongside a three year time frame estimate of income,
investment and expenditure involved in it.

The registration fees per member of the team for business proposal presentation is Rs 600.

The poster will be judged on the novelty of the topic and the importance of its application
in the field of biology.

Knowlege Knockout
A good quiz is a mirror, reflecting the depth of one’s knowledge and the strength of
their curiosity. In this battle of biological wits, teams will compete to establish
their mastery over the subject. This event celebrates to quest for knowledge, and
encourages healthy competition between contestants, as they put their thinking caps on.
BASIC RULES AND REGULATIONS

The quiz theme will be broadly based on Biology.
-
Each team must constitute 4 members, only team registrations are allowed for this event.
There is no limit to teams from a single institution. Cross-departmental registrations are permitted from the same institution.

Replacement of any participant post registration is not permitted.
-
The quiz competition will involve three rounds, namely the preliminary/elimination round,
followed by the semi-finale and the finale. Only 5 teams will qualify for the finale.
-
The registration fee for participation in the quiz is Rs 250 per head, so a total of Rs. 1000 per team.
-
The deadline for the registration is 12th September, 2024. Registration is to be done only post successful completion of fee payment.

The participants shall not be allowed to use mobile phones or other electronic devices during the
competition. The decision of the Quiz-master will be final and binding.

PRELIMINARY ROUND:
Fastest Finger First – Biology Edition (Chronological Order)
-
This round will be conducted offline on the day of the main event.
Teams must correctly arrange biology-related events or processes in chronological order within a 10-minute timeframe.
The top-performing teams will advance to the next round.

No extra time will be provided.
SEMI- FINALE ROUND
Picture Identification Round:
-
Format: Teams will be shown a
series of biological images on placards. Each image must be identified correctly.
-
Answering: After the image is displayed, teams have 30 seconds to identify
it and provide a brief explanation if required.
-
All teams that have advanced to the Semi-Finals must participate.
The teams with the highest scores will advance to the Final round.
FINALE ROUND
"Who Am I?" Round:
-
Format: The quizmaster will read out clues describing a famous biologist, significant
biological discovery, or species. The clues will become progressively easier.
-
Answering: Teams can answer at any point after a clue is given.
They must indicate readiness by raising a placard.
-
Only the top teams from the Semi-Finals will participate.
The team with the highest score at the end of this round will be declared the winner.
Paper Presentation (Exclusively for SXC Students)
The art of paper presentation brings ideas to life, that brim with promise and
potential. It is a commemoration of skill, confidence and proficiency. In-house
participants selected for this event, will prepare and present compelling novel
research papers or comprehensive reviews with the aid of a PowerPoint Presentation,
supporting their narrative, to a panel of esteemed judges.

This event is exclusively for selected SXC students.

The theme of the paper presentation is ‘Protect Planet Earth with Microbes’. The presentation of the participants must either constitute an original work or a review article.
-
The maximum number of members permitted to present is 2, however, participants may choose to present individually.
-
The total allotted time for each presentation is 10 minutes, comprising 8 minutes for
elaborating on the topic, followed by a warning buzzer at 8th minute and a final buzzer at the end of the 10th minute, which will conclude the presentation. This will be further followed by a
question-and-answer session for 2 minutes. If the participants continue to speak after
the wrap-up time warning, their presentation will be halted and the participants will
be deemed disqualified.

The deadline for submitting the Paper Presentation abstract is 12th September, 2024.
Participants are requested to email their abstracts to paper.mtim24@gmail.com,
mentioning the name of
the participants as well as the topic of the presentation.
